this wedding was so so special to me. krista was my BEST friend all through my childhood. she’s also my oldest friend (since we were two years old), so most of my memories involve her… holidays, playing with barbies, skating in friends’ yards, riding our bikes all over, taking the bus to the mall, taking pictures in photobooths, orchestrating “concerts” next to krista’s house, setting up string cans between our windows, developing a flashlight system so we could communicate at night, having sleepovers, starting a million and one clubs (usually in my closet, where i believe we also had sleepovers, somehow)… fighting over everything and then having our moms say we couldn’t see each other for a bit and then crying and begging them to let us play again… everything. so it was just wonderful to see her and her whole family again.
krista and brian really wanted all of their guests to be at the same place and really just have a weekend of fun. and that’s exactly what happened. i went out there on the friday evening with my friend sandra (who, by the way, was a wonderful assistant!), and there was already a huge party going on by the campfire, and a firedancer!!
after a good night’s sleep, i awoke to have breakfast at the restaurant and check out the grounds of the waterfall lodge. what a beautiful place!!
meanwhile, krista and her friend went for a swim!
her beautiful dress!!
krista’s daughter. she looks exactly like krista. she’s beautiful.
here’s the conversation i had with her here…
me: i like your shoes.
her: they’re hightops.
me: oh, ok. well, pink is probably my favourite colour…
her: oh, well then maybe you can tie them for me.
cheers!
this was krista’s smile ALL DAY. seriously. non-stop. i’ve truly never seen a happier bride.
this photo makes me a little teary-eyed. i love her.
her “oh my goodness, i can’t believe i’m getting married” face.
like i said, a very northern-ontario wedding.
the reception was so fun, with the sweetest, most touching speeches and toasts.
and a *very* entertaining bridal party dance.
love brian’s face here.
another photo that makes me tear up. krista hugging her dad. such a beautiful moment.
these girls were fighters when it came to the bouquet. seriously.
after saying goodnight/goodbye to everyone, i went for an amazing swim in a freezing cold lake. i was the only one brave/stupid enough, and it was so perfect. i just floated around for an hour or so, and counted 7 shooting stars. you know how sometimes you have an experience where while you’re in it, you think, “this is one of the most perfect times in my life” because you’re just so happy? that was one of them for me.
krista, you were such a beautiful bride. and a beautiful, radiant person, and i’m so glad to know you and to have had you in my life forever. i thank you and brian again for inviting me to come. i love you, kwizza… love, kiss kiss.
